15 Year Old Emerges Winner at the National ICT Olympiad Competition

15-year-old Emmanuel Olamide Makinde defeated nine other shortlisted finalists as he emerged the winner at the National ICT Olympiad, Lagos state finals.
The first edition of the competition which is designed to test secondary school students’Â knowledge of information and communication technology was restricted to Lagos state.
The organisers say subsequent editions will feature students from the 36 states in Nigeria, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
The winner, Makinde, a student from Sacred Heart College, Lagos, polled a total of 94 points out of 100, while his closest opponent 16-year-old Daniel Tomisin Oluwalana from Chrisland Schools VGC, Lagos, scored 91 points.
The third position went to 17-year-old Lawrence Okegbemi, a student from Igboowu Senior School, Mushin, Lagos, who scored 88 points.
Makinde received a cash prize of N100,000 and a laptop. He will also benefit from a scholarship worth N100,000 to be administered by NIIT Lagos.
His school, Sacred Heart College, Apapa will also get a school management software valued at N250,000 courtesy of Flexisaf.
Oluwalana, 2nd prize winner gets a laptop, N50,000 cash prize, and his school Chrisland College VGC, also gets a school management software.
The 3rd place cash prize of N25,000 goes to Okegbemi.
