Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, on Saturday revealed that suspected members of a religious group made an attempt to attack the convoy of Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai in Zaria. In a statement, Usman said that, “The group struck in the afternoon when the COAS went to pay homage to the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris. “The COAS also went to Zaria to attend the passing out parade of 73 Regular Recruits intake of Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria. “The members of the group, wielding dangerous weapons, obstructed the main road with stones and tyres. “The members threw stones and dangerous objects at the convoy of the COAS, but the COAS was not hurt. “We wish to implore all Nigerians to continue to be law abiding and remain conscious of other people’s right to life and freedom of movement.’’
