Nigeria Has Defeated Boko Haram – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that, technically speaking, Nigeria has won the fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the country. He insisted that Boko Haram no longer has the capacity to mount “conventional attacks” against security forces or populated areas. Buhari said, “The sect had been reduced to fighting with Improvised Explosives Devices (IED) and remained a force only in its heartland of Borno state. “So I think, technically, we have won the war because people are going back into their neighbourhoods. I assure you that we have dealt with Boko Haram as an organized fighting force. “Nigeria had reorganized and re-equipped the military, which had received training from the British, the Americans and the French. “A key priority for the government now, is to rebuild infrastructure and help all internally displaced persons return to their homes.”
