A passenger plane with 81 people on board has crashed on the mountains of Cerro El Gordo, near Rionegro, 10 pm, Monday, local time. Head count by rescue teams on site puts the death toll at 75, while six others survived.Passengers aboard the aircraft included the entire Chapocoense Brazilian team- en route Colombia for a first-leg Copa Sudamericana final on Wednesday with Atletico Nacional in Medellin.The plane included managing staff, some journalists, visitors and guests.The Avro RJ85, took off from Viru Viru International Airport, Bolivia, at 6:18 pm, local time, says air controller, Manuel Palamas.At about 10: 30 pm, local time, an emergency call was made between La Ceja and La Union, Colombian aviation officials have said.Although cause of the crash is not yet known, conflicting information says the plane went short of fuel and there included a possibility of engine failure.Among survivors were the team’s defender, Alan Ruschel, goal keeper, Jackson Follman, Stewardess, Xiemena Suarez and a journalist, Rafael Hezel.Marcos Danilo, one of the team’s goal keeper who initially survived, died.South American Football Federation has suspended all matches until further notice.Brazil’s President, Michel Temer, declares 3-day mourning for the tragic incident.
