ABU VC visit senate over Melaye’s certificate scandal

Dino MelayeDrawn by the recent allegation of certificate scandal involving, Kogi State Sen Dino Melaye, Vice-Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was at the petition hearing probing the certificate saga on the floor of the National Assembly.The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition chaired by Samuel Anyanwu of PDP Imo State, was given the mandate to investigate the allegation that Sen Melaye of the APC Kogi State did not graduate from the institution as he affirmed in his official documents.The decision to unravel the mystery behind the issue was reached after a motion was moved by Senate leader, Ali Ndume who offered that such allegation had exposed the senate to public ridicule.Embattled Sen. Melaye claims he has eight degrees, consisting of two attained from Harvard University and London School of Economics and Political Science, but the claims were reportedly flawed by Sahara denying the senator’s stance.Mr. Melaye was present at the hearing currently in progress.The ABU had earlier rejected media inquisition to confirm if Mr. Melaye graduated from the school.Premium Times reported last week that the school’s authorities would only make official statement of its position if reached by the Senate.
