The Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, has submitted that research holds the solution to the myriads of socio-economic problems facing Nigeria.He made this declaration during audience with a high powered delegation of the Research Committee Members of the Association of the National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) at the OAGF Conference Room.The meeting was held to deliberate on how best to progress on the issues of Research in Accounting.The AGF appealed to the Committee not to be fixated on only core Accounting issues but to consider other aspects of the Nation’s life.The AGF argued that research will help to improve activities of the Treasury. He said that Research has to be taken seriously and subjected to “Imperial scrutiny so as to derive maximum benefit and enable the cleaning up of anomalies in the accounting processes.”In her speech, the Chairperson of the Research and Technical Committee for ANAN, and the President of African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA) Professor Jane Ande appreciated the Accountant General of the Federation for his unparalleled support for the committee and stated their readiness to see him succeed by partnering with him to deliver on the mandate of the Treasury Office.
