The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has promised to donate official cars to magistrates in the state in order to ease the stress of their work. The gesture, the governor said, was in demonstration of his administration’s determination to encourage judicial officers in the state. This, he said, was necessary in order to ensure an effective justice dispensation system, which, he said, was the bedrock of a stable society.A statement on Tuesday quoted Emmanuel as stating this during a thanksgiving service held in honour of the retiring Chief Judge of the state, Justice Stephen Okon. The service, according to the statement, held at the Assemblies of God Church, Aka Itiam Road, Uyo.While congratulating Justice Okon, who was retiring at the age of 65, Emmanuel said he was able to reach the peak of his career because of his diligence, dedication to duty and transparency. The governor noted that though the Chief Judge was retiring at the age of 65, he still looked agile and healthy, stating that the state would continue to seek his wise counselSource: Today
