Alleged Fraud: Ajudua Re-arraigned

A Lagos based legal practitioner and business mogul, Fred Ajudua has been re-arraigned before a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja over allegedly obtaining a sum of 8.4 million dollars from the former Chief of Army staff, General Ishaya Bamaiyi while they were both in Kirikiri maximum prison. Ajudua was earlier docked with a court registrar, Ronke Rosulu for conspiracy to obtain money under false pretence. However midway into the matter, Rosulu through her lawyer, Bamidele Ogundele opted for separate trial. The registrar was later convicted and sentenced for the said offence when she was the Registrar attached to Justice Olubunmi Oyewole who was a judge in the Lagos State judiciary. As at the moment, Ajudua will be proffering answers to a 28 count charge which he had pleaded not guilty to. The court presided over by Justice Kudirat Jose has however set aside September 15, 20, 21 and 22, 2016 for trial. It would be recalled that Ajudua was alleged to have obtained the said sum under the pretence of giving it to justice Oyewole through Chief Afe Babalola, SAN to facilitateate Bamaiyi’s freedom when he was facing trial for his alleged role in the attempted murder of Mr Alex Ibru, the late Guardian Publisher.
