The Islamic State terrorists allegedly influenced a New Jersey teen, Santos Colon, to carry out an assassination on the pope during his state visit to the US in 2015, the teen confessed.Colon, 15 year-old at the time, the Justice Department claimed, pleaded guilty to the plot to have sought the service of a sniper to carry out the assassination while the pope celebrate mass in Philadelphia on September 27 2015.The African Review reported Tuesday that the teen also allegedly plotted to detonate explosives.The teen unknowingly sought a secret FBI agent for the job and was apprehended 12 days before the day.“Colon engaged someone he believed would be the sniper, but in reality was an undercover FBI employee. Colon engaged in target reconnaissance with an FBI confidential source and instructed the source to purchase materials to make explosive devices,” the Justice Department confirmed.The Court documents affirmed Colon’s effort seeking to execute his plans with support from Islamic State terrorists with the name Ahmad Shakoor.A plea bargain with prosecutors, afford Colon, now 17, to waive legal action but accept guilt as an adult of providing support to a terror group.The deal also made prosecutors drop three other charges leveled against him as a juvenile.The charges, however, were related to the Islamic State terrorists, which were known by Washington as a foreign terrorist organization.Nothing was said of how Colon, whose home is in Lindenwold at New Jersey and southeast of Philadelphia, was contacted by the terror group.It is traditional for Pope Francis celebrating Mass for tens of thousands of Catholic faithful in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the historic east coast city to end a week-long visit for the World Meeting of Families.
