Immediate past National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), has again been arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Security Service shortly after he was able to perfect the third bail granted him by Justice Peter Affem.
Confirming the development, Dasuki’s lawyer, Ahmed Raji (SAN), noted that all the bail conditions given by Justice Affem had been met.
It would be recalled, that Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had on November 3, 2015 granted Dasuki bail, consequent upon charges of unlawful possession of firearms.
The bail was, however, frustrated on November 4, 2015 by the DSS who laid ambush on Dasuki’s Asokoro residence and eventually placed him on house arrest claiming that the former NSA was being investigated on another matter.
Dasuki was thereafter docked before Justice Yusuf Baba of the Abuja High court on breach of trust and was granted bail.
The former NSA was not allowed to enjoy this bail as he was further taken to another court, presided over by Justice Peter Affem who also granted him bail on the reason that the offense was a ”˜bailable’ one.
Raji, Dasuki’s lawyer, insisted that the decision of the DSS to re-arrest Dasuki, remains an affront to the rule of law under democracy. The SAN further sent an appeal to the DSS, alongside the Federal Government (FG), to give respect to court orders and allow Dasuki to enjoy the bail granted him by the courts.
