Biafra: Kanu Financing Terrorism, DSS informs Court

Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has been accused of financing terrorism in the country. Kanu was accused by the Department of State Services (DSS) which on Monday presented him in court at Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court in Abuja. As a result, counsel to the DSS, Moses Idakwo, asked the court to discontinue the three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and belonging to unlawful society brought against Kanu. Idakwo declared that the DSS has new evidence linking Kanu to the financing of terrorist activities. “The complainant is, therefore, applying to discontinue the matter under section 108(1) of Administration Of Criminal Justice Act 2015,’’ Idakwo said. Idakwo also told the magistrate court that the DSS has a November 10, 2015 dated order from the Federal High Court, Abuja, to keep Kanu in prison for 90days. In his reply, Kanu’s lawyer, Barrister Vincent Abate, objected to all the submissions by the DSS lawyer on the ground that the Attorney General of the Federation has not given any information to that effect. Obetta informed the Magistrate Court that the DSS has failed to release his clients in total disregard of an order of the court that granted him bail.
