Fight promoter Dana White has confirmed an agreement with mixed martial arts champion, Conor McGregor for a scheduled mega fight with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.White said this on American television cable channel TNT Wednesday night acknowledging an agreement has been reached for McGregor’s boxing match but not a martial arts fight, which Mayweather finds so easy. Mayweather has never been defeated for the past twenty years of his career.White admitted the way is a long one to go but that work is ongoing on his interest to engage Mayweather for a big fight with McGregor.“The McGregor side is done. I’m not saying the fight will happen but I got one side done and it’s time to work on the other (Mayweather).“If we can come to a deal with (Al) Haymon and (Floyd) Mayweather, the fight’s going to happen.”White said with his work done on McGregor, he (McGregor) can now face the undisputed title holder, Mayweather even as they have not fought in any major boxing match since he was a teenager. McGregor, according to him, was issued a permit to fight in California some months ago.28-year-old McGregor is an Irish and UFC’s most famed top spending fighter but his contender to be, a 40-year-old American, Mayweather left active boxing in 2015 with a 49-0 record consisting of 26 victories by knockout.White maintained the proposed fight could generate a price sum of $100 million for Mayweather and $75 million for McGregor. Although retired, Mayweather is keen on fighting but not for any price lesser than $100.However, Promoter Oscar De La Hoya has played down a bout involving the two, saying it would be an “embarrassment” for the sport of boxing.
