(Breaking) Court Okays Kogi Supplementary Governorship Election

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday ruled that it had no jurisdiction to hear”Ž the cases involving the Kogi governorship election which was declared inconclusive on November 22, 2015 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).In a ruling delivered by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, the court declared that it is only the election petition tribunal that had the jurisdiction to hear the cases before it.The judge further declared that INEC could go ahead with the conduct of its supplementary election in the state, scheduled for December 5, 2015. According to the judge, “Only the election petition tribunal can entertain this case.”
