The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yahaya Bello has emerged winner of the Kogi State governorship election which took place yesterday (Saturday).Making this known, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through its returning officer, Professor Emmanuel Kucha declared that the APC candidate polled 247,752, with the incumbent governor Idris Wada polling 204,877 votes. It would be recalled that 40-year old Bello had replaced late Prince Abubakar Audu, who died on November 21, 2015 which happened to be the same day INEC declared as inconclusive the election. This then prompted the INEC to issue a directive that fresh election be held in 91 polling units spread across 19 local governments. The affected local government areas includes: Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Ida, Igala-Mela, Okehi, Odohun, Ijimu, Kabba/Bunu, Lokoja, Ofu, Olamaboro, Okene, Omala and Yagba West and Kogi Kodokafi.
