By Correspondent

Ex-Air force Commander, Rumen Radev, has ascended the seat to Presidency following his win on Sunday, polls show. The landslide victory earned him the Nation’s highest position after successfully garnering about 59.4% votes in contrast with a poorly 36.2% gained by the ruling GERB party after nearly 99.9% of votes cast have been counted.Following the disappointing outcome, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov resigned his position after his candidate, Tsetska Tsacheva, was dealt a decisive blow. He apologised to his supporters, saying “the results clearly show that the ruling coalition no longer holds the majority.” “I apologize to those who supported us. I thought I was doing the right thing.”Anti-migrant supporter, Radev, clearly in support of a Donald Trump’s Presidency, said on Sunday evening “This gives a lot of hope for reducing the risk of confrontation, particularly in Syria.”His success has been attributed to his open antagonism against the ruling party on issues bordering on corruption and economic situation of Bulgarians, promising not to turn Bulgaria into a “migrant dumping ground”President-elect, Trump reiterated during his campaign to open dialogue for Russia. This opens up friendly relations “”¦.for a better dialogue with Russia. That gives us hope, a big hope, for a peaceful solution to the conflicts both in Syria and in Ukraine”¦” Mr Radev said.Rumen Radev who openly criticizes the EU on their ban on Russia since its annex of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, has since developed a close tie with the country.Although a ceremonial position, Radev’s tenure plans to revamp the poverty-ridden Bulgarian economy where at least half of the population live under 5dollars a day since he can influence policies and veto legislations.Radev’s five-year term would be due to begin officially on January 22nd which he will likely begin with an election following the exit of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
