On Friday, the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), the Transparency International Nigeria (TI) and the Zero-Corruption Coalition (ZC) in a joint statement expressed concern over the circumstances surrounding the nomination and eventual dismissal of Magu as the EFCC director by the Senate. The Spokesperson for the Senate, Abdullahi Sabi had announced that the nomination of Ibrahim Magu by President Buhari had been rejected by them, citing available ”˜security report’.The State Security Service (SSS) confirmed this undisclosed report which was read to the lawmakers behind closed doors on Thursday. Therefore, the civil society groups have called on the Senate and the SSS to announce the report publicly so as to ensure honesty and accountability to the public. The dismissal which sparked controversy has not drawn the presidency’s reaction ever since it was announced.According to Premium Times, sources close to Magu revealed that the acting EFCC chairman was never invited by the Senate or SSS before the conclusion of the report.
