Justice James Tsoho of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered an award of N500 million to popular Nigerian musician, King Sunny Ade for copyright violation.It would be recalled that the musician had instituted a suit against a record manufacturing company, African Songs and its subsidiary, Take Your Choice Stores, for close to 30 years now.In arriving at its decision, the court granted the sum in favour of the popular musician over violation on his works. The judge also awarded a total sum of N3 million in favour of Sunny Ade as the sum for prosecuting the matter.
