We didn’t suspend power projects – NDPHC

The new management of Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited has said it is determined to complete all ongoing projects being undertaken by the company.The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, NDPHC, Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, debunked the rumour that the NDPHC projects had been suspended due to government’s plans to change the name of the company.

A statement from the company quoted him to have said, “I want to state categorically that all our projects are ongoing. There is no plan by the new management to change the name of the company neither has the government ordered us to do so.“The new management is determined to complete all ongoing projects and we have been working with our contractors and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered as soon as possible.”The General Manager, Communication and Public Relations, NDPHC, Mr. Yakubu Lawal, quoted the managing director as saying that a meeting was held on September 14 with Oronta community in Abia State to resolve the lingering right of way dispute, which he said had hindered the completion of the 330KV transmission line passing through the community.According to him, the dispute has been resolved and the parties involved have signed terms of settlement.He said, “All other projects are going on unhindered, and where there is an issue, I personally will go there to resolve the issue.”According to the statement, since the appointment of the new management, the managing director has continued to assure stakeholders that ongoing projects will be completed so that power will be delivered to Nigerians in line with the mandate of the Federal Government.The statement said on assumption of office in June, Chiedu had visited Gbarain Power Station in Bayelsa State to resolve gas issues affecting the performance of the company.It said, “Chiedu has also met with the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to solicit his support in resolving community issues in the state as well as reaching out to his counterparts in the Eastern parts of the country to help NDPHC resolve all community issues in their respective states in order to pave the way for contractors to complete their projects.”
