The inauguration of the President-elect of Ecuador has been made public by the Ecuadorian Embassy in Nigeria. The event which will take place at the Congress of Ecuador in Quito May 24th 2017 was declared in a press release signed by Khoze Clement, Personal Assistant to the Ambassador.
Ecuadorian Ambassador to Nigeria, Leopoldo Rovayo Verdesoto confirmed this at the Embassy after his recent visit to Ecuador during the elections. The President-elect, LenÃn Moreno, who was born 19 March 1953 won the Presidential election in the second round of voting, under the ruling party Alianza Pais, on 2 April 2017. In 2007 he was elected, along with Mr Rafael Correa Delgado, vice-president of the Republic of Ecuador till 2013.
He also served in the UN in December 2003 as Special Envoy on Disability and Accessibility during Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon’s tenure. Mr. Moreno graduated from the Central University of Ecuador in Public Administration, was a secondary teacher and then dedicated to the promotion of tourism in Ecuador which lead to the creation of the Ecuadorian Chamber of Tourism. The President-elect had also appointed Mrs. Maria Fernanda Espinosa as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, as she had been Minister in 2007 and the Ecuadorian Ambassador accredited to the United Nations Organizations in Geneva.
