Eight Al-Shabaab Suspects Arrested by Somali Forces

The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) on Monday through its Spokesman, Abdikamil Shukri said no fewer than eight suspects of the militant group, Al-Shabaab, had been arrested in Mogadishu. Abdikamil Shukri, said that security forces carried out a target operation at special areas, including garages in Hodan, Kahda, Wadajir and Yakshid districts in Benadir region after recent terrorist attacks. ”˜We recovered weapons and vehicles from garages; we arrested eight terrorist suspects in connection with the latest terrorist incidents and they are being questioned at the moment,’ Shukri said. He further stressed the African peacekeeping troops alongside Somali security forces conducted such operations in Warta-Nabbada and Hamar-Jadid districts on Saturday and Sunday. NISA was said to have come hours after there was mortar attacks and deadly assassinations in Mogadishu in which five government security personnel were among the dead.
