Ekiti to Return Missionary Schools

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has revealed that the state government is considering handing over primary and secondary schools in the state back to its original owners.Fayose hinted this in a closed door meeting with some religious leaders in Ado-Ekiti.The religious leaders believe these schools would go back to its former glory if they are returned to the missionaries. They are positive this decision will improve the standard of education in the state. The Governor also made some certain observations and showed available records on how schools run by missionaries have been consistently leading in every public examination in recent past. These are his points; “In the last WAEC examinations, Holy Child, a school belonging to Catholic Church led in the State. In fact, many students scored A1 in all the subjects.“Considering this and my stand to improve the standard of Education in Ekiti, I may not mind returning schools to missionaries. Though, it has not reached a policy stage but it is a good option we can consider”, Fayose said.
