Ex-President, Mohamed Morsi of Egypt who was overthrown by an Abdel Fattah el-Sisi led coup has had the life sentence facing him reversed on Tuesday by Egypt’s Court of Cassation following lack of evidence to support the accusations against him.Reports indicate that other Muslim Brotherhood officials, who collaborated to free Islamic terrorists also, had their sentences withdrawn.Charges leveled against the former President include a jail break in 2011 during the coup that deposed President Hosni Mubarak from power; spying for Iran, Hamas and Qatar governments; and possession of highly classified documents with the aim of divulging secrets to foreign powers.Former President Morsi was sentenced to life, 20 years in prison and also faced a death sentence, which was revoked by the Apex court last week. The first democratically elected President was overthrown by a coup that ushered in President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi whom civil societies including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have condemned as violent in nature and contravened Human Rights.Muhamed Morsi is still remanded in prison and is facing a 20-year jail term for a separate criminal offense.
