Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mr.Kayode Fayemi lamented that in spite of efforts made to thwart corruption over the years, the country was still bedevilled by it. This was stated at the International Anti-Corruption Day organized by the Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT).
He stated that the constitution of the country provided a foundation for a strong anti-corruption policy making, however, the country has not been able to implement the strategy to curb corruption in all levels of governance. He also said that corruption hinders progress and enables the development of other crimes.To this end, he stated that the country must reduce corruption to the barest minimum and urged the government to promote transparency within its policy.He also pointed out that a lot was still needed for the country to succeed in its fight against corruption, stating that transparency and accountability was the way forward.
