Firm Inducts 126 Farmers, Charges Nigerians to Invest in Pineapples

The First Massive Achievers Limited has inducted 126 farmers, who underwent both practical and theoretical courses in various forms of agriculture.

The MAF, which claimed to have trained thousands of Nigerians since its inception in 2007, added that the graduands had fulfilled all the requirements for the award of the firm’s certificate.

The president of the firm, Mr Okekunle Akintunde, decried the poor investment in farming in the country, noting that countries that fail to promote farming amongst their citizens always find it difficult to survive.

Speaking on pineapple investment, Akintunde said that Nigeria had not been able to meet consumers’ demands for pineapple, describing this as one of the reasons why many fruit juice manufacturing companies resort to using concentrates.

He advised the graduands to form partnerships, in the absence of the capital to start their own pineapple businesses, and share the proceeds among themselves.

“Pineapple is only available in southern Nigeria. There can never be a loss in the pineapple business as there are many foreign countries that depend on Nigeria for their supplies,” he said.

Describing agriculture or the ‘green collar job’ as the only alternative to elusive white collar jobs, Akintunde urged young Nigerians to treat agriculture as their number one priority.

He reminded the graduands of the medical values of the pineapples and its leaves, which help to cure ulcer and other ailments.

The State coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment, Mr Ologbenla Adebowale, said the NDE had always been in the forefront of supporting any genuine initiative. He added that MAF was not set up for money but for the purpose of impacting lives.
