Former NIMASA DG Approved All Looted Funds – Witness

By Correspondent

A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, presided over by Justice Raliat Adebiyi has been told by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) witness and an Assistant Director in the Financial Services Department of NIMASA, that the former Director-General (DG) of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Akpobolokemi, approved all funds allegedly looted, especially the N498.2million and N318million. The witness, Mrs. Olamide Odusanya, further claimed that the N498,200,000 and N318,000,000 were not returned by the former DG. She also confirmed that the N498.2million was approved in 2014 for the implementation of the Voluntary International Maritime Organisation Member State Audit Scheme (VIMSAS) project by NIMASA. It is recalled that Akpobolokemi and six others were dragged to court over alleged diversion to the tune of N754,740,680 for personal use.
