The Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari and the Senate have both been urged to stop arming members of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) with guns and ammunitions.
The group, Wailing Wailers who aim at the advocacy, promotion and sustenance of Democracy in Nigeria in a statement released by its Ag. National Publicity Secretary, Usman Abubakar pleaded with the federal government to suspend plans to arm members of the corp. The group urged the government to introduce modern surveillance equipment such as spy cameras, street cameras, speed limit regulators and not arming road safety men with guns and ammunitions as this was not done globally. The group also added that the Road Safety Corp members lack the basic training to carry arms and providing ammunitions to inadequate informed Nigerians could be dangerous and also suggest ulterior motives by the government. They therefore called on the Senate, stakeholders and international community to reject the arming of road officials.Discover more from NewsBreakers
