Gbenga Ogunbote has resigned from his post as Giwa FC head coach with immediate effect. The former Sharks and Sunshine Stars gaffer didn’t state his reasons for taking the decision but speculations reveal that he left the Jos Elephants to protect his integrity. Ogunbote whose team had struggled in the first phase of the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League, is close to making a move to a top flight club in the coming days. According to sources his next destination might be Shooting Stars or Akwa United. Ogunbote’s decision comes as a double blow to the Jos-based club, whose owner Chris Giwa has been involved in a power tussle with the Amaju Pinnick led Nigeria Football Federation in recent times. Ogunbote’s assistant, Abimbola Lawal also tendered his resignation letter.
