Justice Mohammed Idris of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has fixed February 26, 2016 as the day to hear Ecobank Nigeria Limited’s motion for stay of proceedings, in the suit filed against it by Honeywell Flour Mills Plc.
It would be recalled that Honeywell and its sister companies; Anchorage Leisures Limited and Siloam Global Services Limited, had pointed accusing fingers on the bank of flouting an earlier directive of the court that all parties should maintain the status quo ante-bellum.
Honeywell went to court over disagreements regarding an alleged debt owed the bank by the group.
Specifically, Justice Idris had in August 10, 2015 issued an interim order, stopping Ecobank from publishing the plaintiffs’ name as debtors.
The court had also ordered the parties to maintain the status quo, pending hearing of the plaintiffs’ suit against Ecobank.
However, in spite of the pendency of the suit, Ecobank initiated other suits before other judges in a bid to recover its debt from the Honeywell Group and its chairman, Oba Otudeko.
