Ikpeazu commissions scholarship board

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has made it clear that the top political drive of his administration is the state’s scholarship board owing to the role it would play in the development of education in the state.Ikpeazu, confirmed that the board has offered opportunities to the youth in state for accessing quality education, while commissioning the board in Umuahia on Monday.He said such human capacity building programs are important for training needed manpower for the development of the state in accordance with government’s plan.Ikpeazu also noted that the board was established to cater for the vulnerable in the state, who could not education. He then admitted that it is the duty of the board to create the initiatives and programs capable of giving Abia State the edge over other states.He made it obvious that the state government would make funds available for the board to function effectively.The Chairman of the board, Prof. Samuel Igwe, listed the programs the board has designed to send 50,000 youth to school.Igwe however praised the State Government for giving him the opportunity to serve, adding that the board would rally round its plans to ensure they are actualized and withstand the test of time.
