Three illegal miners have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Mista village, Bassa Local government of Plateau State.

Mr. Solomon Olasupo, the state commandant who brought the miners before newsmen said the arrest was made possible by a security tip off.He said following the conclusion of the investigation, the three culprits Akinga Lamindi, Bitrus Bala and Anas Aliyu would be charged to court.The culprits were caught with the following items: pumping machine, three bags of tin and colombite, shovels, pick axes and other mining equipment. They were also found to be in possession of suspected hard drugs.Olasupo stated that anyone interested in mining should contact the appropriate authorities, pay a royalty to the federal and state governments and also obtain a mining licence.He advised those still engaged in illegal mining activities to desist from such.
