One-time Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has insisted that the inconsistent economic policies of the Federal Government (FG), are responsible for the collapse of the public education.
Speaking at the 12th Gani Fawehinmi Annual Lecture/ Symposium, anchored by the Ikeja branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the former Minister who was discussing on the theme: “The Collapse of the Public Education and the Past, Present and Future Prospects of the Nigerian State”, Ezekwesili maintained that the structure of the government is the reason for the collapse of the public education in the country.
The former Minister further argued that where there is poor economic growth and inconsistent infrastructure to boost the educational structure, a collapse in the education system is inevitable.
On his part, the radical lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, charged the NBA, to go into partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in its fight against corruption.
According to him, the NBA should aid the EFCC in its fight against corruption because the EFCC should not be alone in this fight. He said the NBA should aid the EFCC to ensure that any individual that has taken a Kobo from the $320 million Abacha loot should be held accountable.
