Isis Claims Responsibility for Petrol Station Explosion Near Hila Town, Iraq

Nearly a hundred people have been pronounced dead after a bomb-laden truck exploded at a petrol station on Thursday, South East of Iraq. Victims of the attack, returnees from an annual pilgrimage from Karbala, including Shiia Muslims; mostly Iranians, were in the bus when the bomb went off. The Iranians were in Iraq to pay tribute to Imam Hussein, late grandson of Prophet Muhammed.The truck which went off near Hila town, was rigged with 500 litres of ammonium nitrate, a chemical compound used in many explosive devices, joint operation command said in an issued statement.The Islamic State of The Levant (ISIL) has openly claimed responsibility for this attack. In a statement posted online, which reads in part, “The flames of battles in Mosul will reach them in Baghdad, Karbala and Najaf,”Â indicates that the terror group would not give in easily.Babel security head confirmed the location of the blast which occurred on a highway between Babel and Qadisiyyah recorded about 50 more wounded, which involved some Iraqis and Bahrainis. Since the fight to retake Mosul launched few months ago, the city of Mosul has seen a rising mound of deaths and several displacements.
