Jigawa governor receives commendation from state over quick payment of pensions and gratuities

By Busola KareemJigawa Governor, Gov. Muhammad Badaru has been lauded by the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) over the quick payment of their entitlements. The state union Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba announced that those entitled to their pension have been receiving it monthly and has thus commended the governor. Pensions were being paid on or before the 15th of every month so that it won’t affect or collide with the time civil servants were being paid their salaries.

“Ordinarily, pensioners are weak people and government in its own wisdom decided to make the payment before month end. “I am speaking on behalf of my members because we are all very happy with the way our pensions are paid promptly and regularly,’’ he added. He also stated that retired state and local government workers were also paid their gratuities promptly. According to him, the state has an organised contributory pension which process workers benefits and settle them in good time. Alhaji Garba commented that the state pensioners would continue to show their appreciation to the governor for not embezzling funds despite the prevalent hardship experienced in the country presently.
