JUSTICE ADEMOLA AND WIFE GRANTED BAIL BY AN ABUJA HIGH COURT

Moments after Justice Adeniyi Ademola and his wife, Olabowale, Head of Service, Lagos were indicted by the Federal Government on charges surrounding corruption, the duo were granted bail on Tuesday by a High Court in Abuja.The charges against the couple amongst others were a conspiracy to receive gratification contrary to Section 26(1) (c) of the corrupt practices and other related Offenses Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 26 (1) of same law and receiving gratification, from Joe Agi and Associates in the sum of N30M in March 2015, contrary to Section 8(1)of the corrupt practises and other Related Offenses Act, 2000 punishable under Section 8 (1) of the same law.The Ademolas were granted bail in the sum of 50 million Naira each by presiding Justice Jude Okeke pending the hearing of their trial to begin in January.The bail which was granted in Self-recognition would not require a surety for their release.Prosecuting counsel, Mr Segun Jegede, urged the Court to impose conditions that would ensure the couple’s attendance of their trial.As requested, Justice Okeke ordered they surrender their international passports to Deputy Chief Registrar until the hearing and verdict of their case.Justice Ademola was among 7 other judges arrested by the Federal Government in the Sting Operation on October 8 & 9.Discover more from NewsBreakers
