Kwara residents reportedly confirmed receive FG’s N5000 stipend

Some residents of Kwara State have started receiving bank alerts of five thousand naira meant for the most vulnerable and poorest people in the country, through the Conditional Cash Transfer, initiated by the Federal Government.

The scheme is one of the government’s social investment programmes.VON reportedly conducted an investigation which revealed that some of the beneficiaries have started receiving alerts, as promised by the government.The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Ayinke Saka, had told newsmen recently, that the beneficiaries were spread across the sixteen local government areas of the state.Saka said beneficiaries of the scheme from Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Ilorin South had  started having their accounts credited with the monthly stipend since last Friday.She attributed the delay experienced by some of the beneficiaries to difficulties in opening bank accounts and verification.The Commissioner assured them that the problem would be rectified while others would start getting alerts by next week.She said that over ten thousand Kwarans were expected to benefit, and appealed to them to be patient, as all beneficiaries would be catered for under the social investment programme.The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, had in a statement, said one million Nigerians would receive five thousand naira monthly payments, as a social safety net for the poorest and most vulnerable, which was included in the 2016 budget.
