Mid November is kick-off date for FCT’s Rail Mass Transit

Mid-November is the kick-off date for pilot test of the Rail Mass Transit of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).Malam Muhammad Bello, the Minister, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said this Monday when recounting the stage of work done by contractors in charge of the project, who are expected to complete work by October.The minister assured of this when he acknowledged a delegation of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) led by its President, Chief Tomilola Akingbogun.In the pilot test, the minister offered that by December, the administration will briefly launch the rail services for the Lots 1A and 3 for public use. “The full operation of the Abuja Rail Mass Transit will commence by the first quarter of 2018 as earlier announced,’’ he assured.The FCT minister said a committee was already working to check the problem of multiple taxation.He said in order to check this, there is need for the participation of private investors in the development and economic activities in Abuja, which he noted, was significant for better results.The minister underscore the essence of tourism, a sector he said should be given its rightful place for private investors to take the lead for the stimulation of economic activities in the FCT.“Nigeria is truly endowed and the FCT Administration will surely leverage on such endowment to fast track its economic development,” he asserted.
