Ministry of Science and Technology to render assistance to Potato and Oil Production

The FG has decided to offer technical assistance to Potatoes Farmers Association of Nigeria (POFAN) and Oil Palm Association of Nigeria (PAN) to enhance their productions.

Dr.Ogbonnaya Onu, the minister of Science and Technology, in a statement signed by Mr. Taye Akinyemi, the Deputy Director Press, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology in Abuja quoted that the executives of both associations visited him at his office.The association were advised by the minister to use improved varieties of potatoes and oil palm seeds together with organic fertilizers to improve planting techniques. He also said that oil palm production was of great economic benefit due to the many resources associated with its production.Also, he assured that the National Research and Innovation Council will ensure food security through its platform.Mr. Daniel Okafor, POFAN president said the visit to the ministry was to seek technical support as well as assistance in the designing and fabrication of bakery equipment.The minister has assured of the ministry’s support as it is in the best interest of the nation.
