The Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox, popularly known as MMM has taken the lead as the most searched word in Nigeria this week. This was disclosed by Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager for Anglophone West Africa, Mr. Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade in Lagos.

The internet browser, Google released its annual search trends for 2016 with fascinating but predictable results in Nigeria. The MMM search was mostly made from December 7th to December 14th, a period when the scheme was temporarily frozen causing rumours about its intending crash.”˜An air of panic started on the Internet following the news that popular Ponzi known as MMM is suspending further payment to its existing members for one month. The anxiety which has followed the decision has been met with varied reflections by people who see the suspension as an impending collapse’, Mr. Kola-Ogunlade said.Other leading searches include the collapse of the Reigners Bible International Church in Uyo, an alleged Dana Air crash, New Ghanaian president, regular update search on the English Premier League, Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).In the entertainment and sports section, Nigerians search for Christiano Ronaldo, four-time winner of the Ballon D’or, Olamide and Burna Boy’s ”˜The Ultimate Street Anthem’ and Tekno’s latest release ”˜Rara’.
