The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) recently got the African Regulator Award for 2015 at the Africa Information Technology and Telecoms Award (AITTA) in Accra, Ghana. This was based on the commission being a leading light in telecommunication regulations in Africa. The award was organised by the United Kingdom (UK) registered Instinct Wave Inc. and MobileWorld magazine. The award, given to the commission was received by Mr. Tony Ojobo, director, public affairs, NCC who stood in the place of the executive vice chairman, Prof. Umar G. Danbatta and was presented by Ghana’s chief regulator and director general of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Mr. William Tevie. NCC was chosen as the winner of the award based on the UK firm’s Intelligence Unit gathering of data across the African continent. The report stated, “NCC’s strong and committed effort to enhance competitiveness and innovation as factors of economic growth” made it the winner of the title.
