The Senate’s decision to recall its suspended former leader, Senator Ali Ndume Tuesday has suffered a setback in what was seemed an oversight, as the plenary session ended without a mention of his case.It was gathered from a source in the National Assembly that the upper legislative chamber had planned to recall Ndume today at plenary but was hindered by the protest of persons in support of the suspended senator. The source noted that the decision of the Senate was premised on its stance that no one can intimidate it by any protests. The senate went into an emergency closed door meeting which lasted for about 40 minutes.Reports had it that the protesters had ordered the National Assembly to recall the senator within three days. They blocked the main entrance to the National Assembly early in the morning. They also wanted the removal of the senate leadership over the reported suspension of Ndume for six good months. The groups of protesters, including the IDPs, were chanting songs in support of the suspended senator. They also wielded placards calling for Ndume’s return; mocking at those suspected of fright for Ibrahim Magu; cautioning those undermining President Buhari and describing Saraki as a curse.
