New Army Division Established in Borno

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. -Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Wednesday announced that the Nigerian Army 8 Division located in Borno State has been established.Delivering a lecture titled, ”˜Nigerian Army: Challenges and Future Perspectives’, at the National Defence College, Abuja, Buratai explained that the establishment of the new division was part of the strategic plan by the army to boost military operations against terrorists, particularly in areas around the Lake Chad Basin. The army chief also noted that the division would soon become fully operational with logistics and manpower deployment. Buratai further revealed that plans are ongoing to create another division to be called the Nigerian Army 6 Division with Headquarters in the South-South region of the country.
