Welsh side Swansea FC has agreed to sell Jonjo Shelvey to Newcastle for a fee in the region of £12m with the England international midfielder set for his medical today. Magpies boss, Steve McClaren is keen to bolster his squad, who is currently in the Premier League relegation zone after a topsy-turvy start to his reign. Shelvey is set to become Newcastle’s second signing in quick succession, following the arrival of Henri Saivet from Bordeaux on Monday if the deal goes through. Shelvey who was a key figure for the Swans last season, has not been guaranteed a starting place this term.
