Oba Erediauwa’s Burial: Residents Ordered Not to Cook with Fire

An instruction has gone out to Benin residents not to cook with fire on Sunday, June 5. This is part of activities marking the continuation of the 15 days funeral rites for the late Monarch, Oba Erediauwa. According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, Sunday would be the day of Edenagberen-Mwiwu in the royal funeral rites programme and as such, there would be no cooking with fire, in accordance with Benin customs and tradition.
