Ondo State governor confirms N6.5 billion state allocation from the Paris Club deduction

Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has confirmed the payment of the N6.5 billion owed by the federal government on the excessive deductions made from the state account on the Paris Club payment.

The governor has ordered that part of the money be used to settle workers salaries.In a statement issued by the Commissioner of Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, he said that the N6.5 billion is from the 185 million dollars owed the state on the Paris club deductions. Out of the N6.5 billion received by the state, the state government is allocated N4.37 billion which represents 67.3 percent of the fund while the local councils get N2.1 billion which represents the remaining 32.7 percent of the fund.The state governor, Mimiko has announced that 50 percent of the money would be used to pay workers salaries while the remaining would be put into running the state.
