Passengers destroy Arik’s Check in counter over failure to return luggage

By Akinwande OnadekoArik Air on Wednesday was directed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to return all delayed baggage of its passengers who boarded the London-Lagos flight within the next 24 hours and also compensate the affected passengers with 150 dollars each for inconveniences caused them.

According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the directive was issued by Adamu Abdullahi, Director of Consumer Complaints, NCAA.Aggrieved passengers of the aforementioned flight caused a commotion during the airline’s operations and also allegedly damaged its check in counter at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Tuesday. This was due to the non-arrival of their bags after arriving five days earlier in the country of which this affected up to 40 persons.Mr. Abdullahi after appealing to the passengers assured them that the airline and the aviation authorities were working on resolving the issue.He also advised them against taking the law into their hands, pointing out that there were laid down procedures in place of such issues.According to two passengers who spoke to NAN, they criticized the airline for its shabby customer service and said the airline failed to deliver on its word to deliver the baggage latest by Tuesday with a compensation of 50 thousand naira.
