Plot to Bomb Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos Foiled as Bomber Arrested

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Nigerian police have arrested a man alongside with other people who were plotting to bomb the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.The suspected bomber was identified as Abiodun Amos a.k.a. SENTI.In a statement given by the police, he was described as the leader of the Militant Gang plotting to bomb the bridge.He was arrested on November 2nd, 2016 at a hideout at the Majidun River bank in Lagos State with two AK rifles recovered from him.”˜The principal suspect is an Ijaw man and a native of Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State. He is an explosives expert who specializes in assembling and modifying large scale Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) for terrorist act’.Also, the principal suspect relayed to the police one of the suspects at large who was in possession of the explosives who was also trailed by the police on the 26th of December, 2016 as he was on his way to meet up with other members of the militant gang to blow up the bridge. Items recovered included 2 cartons of Galantine Dynamite Explosives and 125 detonators in the boot of a car in Ikorodu.On sighting the police, the suspect escaped into a nearby boot while the explosives were recovered which might have caused a colossal and devastating damage to the state.The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Don Awunah, in a statement said further investigation was being carried out to arrest all other members of the militant gang who were still at large.
