President Muhammadu Buhari formally flagged off the Economic Growth and Recovery Plan on Wednesday in Abuja.The Plan, an innovation of the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, was launched at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.It contained 60 critical initiatives with the hope that it would help Nigerians get out of the economic recession for growth.Few of the initiatives are meant to stabilize the macro-economy, energy, infrastructure and driving industrialization.President Buhari said that his government is determined to change the status quo of the nation from a consumer to a producing one at a pre-FEC meeting.“We are determined to change Nigeria from a consumer nation to a producing nation”, he assured.The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma, said in his opening address that the idea was in conformity with the change agenda of the government to reform the recessed economy.“This is therefore a fulfillment to re-invigorate the economy”, Udoma said.Others who spoke included the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, each of who praised the idea.At same time breadth, they promised their support and urged the federal government to make the execution of the program sacred.
