Rooney, Terry shortlisted for Fifpro World XI

A shortlist for Fifpro World XI compiled from the votes of 25,000 professional footballers from across the world has Wayne Rooney and John Terry as the only English men on the 55 player list.The only other British player that was nominated is Wales and Real Madrid’s forward; Gareth Bale.Voting kicked off in September and so it means that eligible players must have made 15 appearances in 2015.According to the report, ten Premier League players are shortlisted with the majority of players from Manchester United and Chelsea FC, with one nomination from Arsenal.A number of nominees on the shortlist are from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively.Spain, Germany, Italy and France league players are not found wanting on the list.The only American representative is New York City and Italy midfielder Andrea Pirlo.The final result will be announced on 11 January at the Ballon D’Or ceremony.
