The Lord’s prayer is the greatest teaching on prayer, this Jesus taught his disciples when they became worried and anxious to know the secret behind the signs that follows each time Jesus prayed. Because Jesus understood the nitty-gritty of prayers, he taught to pray this way;
According to Matthew 6:9-15
“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
According to this teaching, the first thing Jesus Christ taught was “Acknowledgmentâ€Â. They must acknowledge the existence of God to when the want to pray unto. God said, call unto me in Jeremiah 33:3. There is therefore the need for them to firstly know this!
He further told them the need to need to praise and worship God because He’s the One that can answer their prayers. He told them further that doing the “will†is very key to answered prayers.
He taught them further that their daily food or benefits cannot only come from him. It is written in Psalms that he loads us with daily benefits, it is also contained in the word of apostle James that every good and perfect gift can only come from him. Also, you must not bear the guilt of unforgiveness because the Father expected you to forgive others their sins so that yours will not stand in your way of answered prayers. He further taught them that they should not be too sure that if, temptation comes, they will overcome but rather, he told to pray the father they will not be led into temptations. Ask them to ask for daily deliverance from evil, knowing fully that the day is full of evil. These lessons are important for us to achieve the same result Jesus had whenever he prays.
