He claimed that his brother who was epileptic had been ill for a long time before his death. He had left home that morning only to be called back that his brother had passed away. However, rumours had been making rounds in the community that the mother had killed the son after she could no longer cope with the financial burden of caring for the boy.”˜I cannot say our mother killed our brother and I cannot say she was not the one, because before I left home that morning, my brother was still alive only for me to be called to come home on time that he had died. And when I got home, I confirmed that he had truly died and immediately, my mother told me that we should dispose of him in order to avoid what happened to us when our grandmother died’, Samson said.He also confessed that he and his mother actually took the dead brother’s body from the house and threw him into a pit, hoping that no one would get to know what they had done. The mother has been accused of ending the life of the 20 year old because of the shame and disgrace her epileptic son had brought to the family in the community.”˜She was always ashamed of the boy because he was epileptic and I believe she must have taken his life because of that’, a resident of the community said.”˜After discovering the body and pondering on the identity of a human found in the soak away pit that had been emitting a foul odour for the past few days, one suggested it could be the sick Kayode as he had not been seen outside for some time now. Having heard this, we stylishly called the woman’s daughter, Falilat to come and see the corpse and she confirmed it to be that of her brother’, another resident named Mukaila narrated. He added that to the surprise of everyone, they met the woman trying to escape while they were returning from the police station where they had gone to lodge a complaint.Further findings revealed that the woman had been ejected from the community together with her family. Also, it was gathered that some of the police officers attached to Alagolo Police Station in Baruwa community have been accused of conniving with some community leaders to sweep the matter under the carpet.Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Dolapo Badmus has confirmed the incident and has announced an ongoing investigation into the case.
